LG Electronics always conducts its corporate affairs with the public in mind.
Since its inauguration, LG Electronics has taken the lead in the Korean electronics industry to create a convenient and happy society for all. Now, after years of contributing to public welfare, LG Electronics has not only grown into a national corporation, but it has also become a global corporation as well.
 
The Terry Fox Marathon of Hope
LG Electronics sponsored the Terry Fox Marathon held at the Seoul World Cup Park in September 2003 to fund cancer treatment and research.
The Terry Fox Marathon is held every year in 53 nations including Canada to help cancer patients. In Korea, the Chamber of Commerce of the Canadian Embassy in Korea hosts the marathon as a purely non-profit event. LG Electronics donates its earnings from the event to different cancer research institutes.

The Terry Fox Marathon was named after Terry Fox, who, at 22, died in the course of running a marathon across Canada to collect funds for cancer research.
 
LG Charity Concert in the Czech Republic
In December 2003, LGE held an LG Charity Concert in Prague, Czech Republic to support youth scholarships; thus boosting its image in the area of community service.
The concert, which was organized by the Czech First Lady's scholarship foundation, was held for the benefit of deserving students in foreign language programs. Czech President Vaclav Klaus, mayor of Prague, and the Korean ambassador to the Czech Republic were among the concert's distinguished guests. After the concert, LGE donated CZK one million to the Czech President.
LG Electronics also donated linguistic aids to Charles University, thereby helping the region's economic development.
 
Huizhou's LG Day Event
Huizhou City in China has re-named a central street "LG Daido," meaning LG great road, after LG in honor of the company's various community services and marketing efforts for the public good. Huizhou City has designated January 31 as Huizhou's LG Day in appreciation of LG's contributions to the city's development in the past 10 years.
Since 2003, LGE has held Huizhou's LG Day in Huizhou, Guangdong Province, China, with various activities for the city government and its citizens in return for their warmth and support.
 
The Villa de Las Ninas
LG Electronics has been sponsoring the Villa de Las Ninas, a girls' house in Mexico run by a mission group, the Maria Nuns' Association. The house offers free technical education to poverty-stricken children in Mexico. LG Electronics sponsors the house's annual events and activities like bazaars, Christmas concerts, technical education and more. LG Electronics grants incentives in the form of awards to students who graduate with honors.

LG Electronics has taken a particular interest in sponsoring the archery team of the Villa de Las Ninas. In fact, the company invited world-class archery champions in the villa last January 2003. LG Electronics also successfully held the 2003 LG Cellular Cup in Mexico.
 
LG Hope Program in the Middle East and Africa
LG Electronics sponsored free surgical operations for babies with harelips in impoverished regions that lack medical resources. The medical team is composed of the best medical specialists in Korea, professionals who offer free medical services to children with harelips. In so doing, LG Electronics provides these children with precious opportunities to live new lives.
Together with the Korean dentist professionals' club and the Korean Harelip and Palate Association, LG Electronics offered Free Harelip Surgery to 30 child patients in Pakistan in mid-August.
In 2003, LG Electronics, together with Korea University's volunteer medical team, launched "LG Hope Program" in Morocco, offering free operations to 30 cleft lip child patients who could not afford the operation.
LG Electronics plans to support these congenital Free Harelip children with regular examinations and rehabilitation and expand the service to Iraq and other nations.
 
Anti-Drug Campaign in Thailand
LGEMT, an LG subsidiary in Thailand, is launching an anti-drug campaign in Thailand. The use of drugs is a major problem in the country. Last year, in conjunction with the Thai government's anti-drug programs, LGEMT launched a hike across the country as volunteers traveled a total of 698 km from Chiang Mai to Bangkok - a feat accomplished by walking 24 km every day.

A total of about 30,000 people participated in the LGEMT anti-drug campaign. The LG subsidiary launched a campaign to collect one million signatures from each region they toured. LGEMT also donated part of the proceeds from the sales made during the campaign to the Thai royal house.
 
The LG Primary School and the LG Village in China
LGESY, an LG Electronics Chinese subsidiary, established the LG Color TV Village with the aim of developing a backward agricultural village. The subsidiary also raised the LG Hope Primary School, a children's school within the village, which was also a recipient of LG Electronics' donation of projection TVs and computers. The company also supports its instructors and conducts other learning activities at the school.
 
Seoul Street Land Mark in Tehran
In celebration of the 40th anniversary of the Korea-Iran diplomatic ties in 2002, LG Electronics created a touchstone, called the Seoul Street Landmark, in the name of LG, and donated it to the city of Tehran. Together with this, LG Electronics supports convenient facilities as a public service in Seoul Park, which is also located on Seoul Street.

LG Electronics also supported campaigns to donate used computers to orphanages in Egypt. The company invited Turkish veterans, who fought in the Korean War, to Korea. LG Electronics also sponsored the crippled children soccer club in the Netherlands, and the establishment of a rehabilitation center in Russia for children suffering from tumors. LG Electronics still supports the broadcasting of the Bridge of Hope, a guidance counseling TV program in Malaysia. In such activities, LG Electronics leads the way for a better society all over the world.
 
The LG Electronics Social Service Group
A "corporate citizen" is a corporation that not only pursues profits but also undertakes certain responsibilities and obligations to the community.
Trusted by its customers and regarded as a good neighbor in the community, LG Electronics takes the initiative in fulfilling its social responsibilities. This was seen in June 2003, when LG Electronics launched a Social Service Group composed of 200-odd members from each LG Electronics workplace across the country. These cause-oriented individuals will engage in rescue and support during national disasters. Truly, the move will enable LG Electronics' trusted people to take the lead in the company's social service activities.
 
LG Electronics Volunteer Service Groups for Teenage Breadwinners
LG Electronics has created support or peer groups for teenagers who act as breadwinners in their home. Through this arrangement, LG Electronics provides financial support to these young people until they are adult enough to take responsibility on their own. The volunteer groups offer learning support, by developing different learning or foreign language programs. The groups also facilitate well-rounded activities for their members, like observation tours in the LG Electronics plants, LG Electronics -sponsored concerts, movies, and more.
